NATALIA JORDANOVA* THE CONSOLE
09/10 – 25/10/2020
Rosa Stern is proud to present the first edition of FREISPIEL: a series of short-time residencies and presentations by international artists which deal with the topics of technology and it’s aesthetical and socio-political influences in our future-driven present. Our first guest was Amsterdam based artist Natalia Joradnova. She developed a visual timeline of her 2020’s work series and presented her practice in a performative artist talk. The Console is used as a device to give background information about her methodologies. She reshuffles fragments in a non-linear way, to emphasise the complex relatability of things and explores the potential of endless image reproduction.
Natalia Jordanova (b. Sofia, Bulgaria) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam, working with a variety of media to create context–aware installations which draw parallels between the unstable state of meta-modernity and the current human condition. Within her practice, she defines relationships between human and technology, image and language mediation and the new understanding of materiality. She studied at the Sandberg Institute in The Netherlands (2020), the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (2018) and the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Bulgaria (2013) and as well as at Central Saint Martins in London (2017). Recently she participated in Unfair Temporary Museum in Amsterdam; group exhibition at the Sofia City Art Gallery for BAZA Award; solo presentation at Art Rotterdam 2020, where she received a nomination for the NN Art Award. She is currently worked together with THIS IS FAKE collective at a VR residency in Zeitz, Germany.
